Have you ever heard of “your why?” Has anyone ever asked you what it is?

Your “why” is the most authentic reason for doing what you do, your drive, your motivation.

I spent the last three weeks of 2016 in Thailand, and I’ve been home for just under one week. I’m finally feeling acclimated after an acupuncture session yesterday, cooking an amazing meal with Joe, just after feeling the familiar burn of a 7am megaformer class. I have some alone time and I am so ready to allow The Pure Way to unfold.  I’m feeling like I can focus on what’s important and give undivided attention to my “why.”

January is the month I was born. For me, the idea of a new year gets inflated every January because it also marks another year of this lifetime. I really question what I want and what my goals are; resolutions, intentions…I look at what I want and why I want it. I’m clearly not the only one, and it feels good to ride the wave of this collective effort to up-level. I’m committed to being of service this year, and more importantly from this point on. It’s not that I haven’t done this in the past; it’s just a must now because my why is even more clear. It’s not just my why, this is a path that has been paved by my those who have come before me.

It’s the innate drive to not just survive, but to thrive.

Yes, I figured a little poetry might arouse some sensations, though I also mean it. I don’t want to just survive and move through life feeling great and doing well. I want to feel outstanding and live with the most energy, drive and inspiration that I can possibly feel every day. Don’t you? Don’t you want to feel like you’re ready to take on the world every day when you wake up? How would it feel to really, truly love being in your body-your sacred temple, that allows you to experience this one precious lifetime? Whether it’s “woo-y” or not, the truth is that I don’t want to feel like crap. Not ever; quite the opposite actually, and I wish the same for everyone else.

I spoke about this with my mother, and I recorded a few minutes of our conversation. I didn’t prepare for this, it’s real and unplanned, and in the moment. It’s not a professional recording, it’s just me and mom, having a heart to heart, FaceTime style. I’m posting it because it’s raw and unfiltered just one of our many late night pillow talks!

It’s much more likely that you’re going to follow through when you have a clear why. What do you want this year? My mother knows her why and her conviction is compelling enough, that she’s inspired me and so many people in her life to honor their body, their temple.

When would now be a good time to ask yourself why?

If you can appreciate numbers:  “studies have shown that people who write down their goals are 80% more likely to achieve them then those that don’t.” Write down what you want and your why. If you’re really committed, I encourage you to type it as well, right here in the comments section.
